Motoland MX Park received a huge boost of self-assurance last weekend by hosting the third race in the AMX 2011 State Championship Race.

On Sunday Oct. 9, hundreds of motocross riders, family members and MX enthusiasts engulfed Motoland’s parking lot looking for their chance to win. Riders came from all parts of Arizona and other states to participate in the AMX 2011 State Championship Race.

AMX stands for Arizona Motocross, and is the only organization offering a State Championship Race that encompasses tracks from all over the state with eight races happening at five different tracks. The races allows there to be individual winners for each race and overall winners at the final race in November based on their scores from the different races. Winners of the overall race will receive free practice and racing for a year.

“Races like this help me keep my store in business,” said Lorri Erickson, manager of Motoland MX Park and Motoland Store. “The more people who come out and support us by riding our track or buying a liter of oil help me keep the MX Park and the repair shop in town open.”

Motoland MX Park received a wealth of praise for their participation in the event because of the track's family environment, staff, and trackside store.

“People really value our services,” said Lorri. “We are the only track in Arizona that offers a fully stocked track, concession stands, and our ability to meet people’s needs. Plus, it’s all family run so the staff here is my family and they know what I expect from them.”

Motoland keeps their track groomed and they have the same soil that is used during National MX events. The trackside store offers a cool and inviting place for family members to come in and get away from the heat. The store offers refreshments, food, parts, and apparel that a rider may have forgotten.

“Motoland MX Track prides itself on offering a quality experience for the entire family,” said Lorri. “We work hard to make sure that our store is stocked so people have what they need and don’t have to cut their day short. We have a store in town that we can also pull merchandise from in a pinch.”

Motoland MX Park offers weekend practice for all age groups and skill levels for both motorcycles and ATVs. The park offers 5 different tracks such as a Nation Track that is used during races, a Vet Track that is used for ATVs and older bikes, and a Pee-Wee Track for riders who are just starting out. In addition, Motoland offers a Super-cross Track and an Arena Track that can be used only by riders who hold a pro's card.

Finally, Motoland has a playground near their store and allows free overnight camping.

“At the end of the day, this is more than a business,” said Lorri. “This is a place where families can come and be together.”

Motoland MX Park is located on Hanna and Sissler Rd., just south of the I-8 on the Thornton exit. If you would like more information on Motoland MX Park or Motoland Store, please call (520) 421-9056 or visit motolandstore.com
